Nile Delta Boat Cruise in Murchison Falls National Park

Any visit to the most vast and best savannah safari in Uganda, Murchison Falls National Park, is highlighted by the Nile Delta boat tour after Queen Elizabeth National Park. With game drives seeing the many Rothchild’s giraffe, buffalo, elephants, and lion praying on the many antelope on the plains, Murchison Falls offers some of the most amazing wildlife watching opportunities.

Murchison park is split into northern and southern halves by the Nile River running from Lake Kyoga into Lake Albert, which attracts species concentration on the Victoria Nile banks. The boat journey down the Nile investigates the most plentiful animal populations on the Nile banks.

Murchison Falls National Park offers two ways to experience the great Nile. From the Paraa jetty, visitors board the boat travel up the Victoria Nile waters to the foot of the thundering falls and climb Baker’s rock to see the falls from above.

Starting from Paraa jetty, the other boat excursion follows the calm Nile waters into the delta loaded with papyrus. Here the Nile first connects with Lake Albert before veering northward. The closest you can go to Uganda’s big game creatures, both provide amazing sight of wildlife on the Nile banks.

Boat Cruise of the Nile Delta

Twenty kilometers downstream from Paraa jetty in Murchison Falls National Park is the Nile Delta. For most visitors on the Nile Delta boat ride, it has amazing waterbird species such the prehistoric-looking shoebill stork.

Travelers get very near to amazing animal sights as the three-hour Delta boat excursion, west of Paraa region in Murchison, winds over the picturesque Buligi area to the Lake Albert Delta Point. On the banks of the Nile, you should be able to see groups of giraffes, buffalo, and elephants.

Though the landscape views are healing for an afternoon sunset boat tour, the shoebill is the standout sight in these areas of the park.

Victoria Nile goes through the northern point of Lake Albert at the Albert Nile Delta to become the Albert Nile flowing up into South Sudan. Spend some quality time in the delta; before you cruise the Nile back to the Paraa jetty, you could see some elephants, Nile crocodiles, and other fascinating wildlife in the vicinity.

Subject to minimal numbers, you may plan a Nile delta tour with “breakfast on board,” served in the mornings. Starting on the south bank at Paraa, the delta cruise departing the jetty sets out at 07.00 am and 2:00 pm. We can also customize your delta cruise vacation with timings and a private boat to fit your travel plans.
