Gorilla families and permits in Buhoma sector
In the Buhoma area of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, we may examine gorilla families and permits. Gorilla monitoring of several families takes place at Buhoma, a sector headquarters located in the Kanungu area of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in the park’s northern region.
It is overseen by the Uganda Wildlife Authority, a government agency responsible for all of Uganda’s national parks. You have a 98% probability of seeing gorillas at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in southern Uganda, which is home to half of the world’s surviving gorillas.
A gorilla tracking excursion entails traveling into the bush in search of the primates and then keeping a close eye on them for an hour. At 7:00 in the morning, park guides meet at each headquarters to educate customers on the rules of the park, and then, with the visitor’s permission, they set off on foot into the forest.
If you’re finding that the trek is becoming too much to handle, consider hiring a porter to assist you with your belongings and any necessary physical assistance. Gorilla viewing in the Buhoma section of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a once in a lifetime opportunity that you should not pass up. Make your reservation with Katland Safaris to see these amazing primates, who are 95% human.
In Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, gorilla monitoring takes place in four different sectors: the southerly Rushaga and Nkuringo sectors, the northern Ruhija sector, and the world-famous Buhoma region. Each of these areas employs a unique family of habituated gorillas for daily monitoring. Just as in human families, gorilla families consist of a father and a mother.
The male leaves the family he was born into, marries a female, and then starts a family. There are instances when the black members of the family get into fights. Because of this, families began to disperse; the Uganda Wildlife Authority now gives each newborn a unique name.
You may ask your park guide for the names of the specific gorilla family you’re hoping to see on your trip; they’re quite communicative. Katland Safaris will arrange for you to have a fantastic day trekking with gorillas. A three-day gorilla tour and a four-day second gorilla tracking trip are just two of the numerous gorilla trips that we arrange to Buhoma.
Baboon families and permits in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park’s Buhoma Sector
The Buhoma sector is often considered the “back birth” of gorilla tourism in Uganda and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park since it was the first place gorilla monitoring was done. There are five distinct groups of habituated gorillas on Buhoma:
The Family of Mubare Gorillas
The Mabare were the pioneers in introducing tourists to the habituated gorillas in Buhoma, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. A total of eight adults and a newborn of around two weeks make up the Mubare gorilla family.
The Mubare Hills in Kanungu district, where Buhoma is situated, are the inspiration for the group’s name. There will be instances when the journey to see the gorillas is difficult due to the jungle, slick terrain, steps, or lowlands.
Ancestral Habinyanja Gorillas
One of the first habituated gorilla groups in Buhoma is the Habinyanja family. As of today, there are fourteen individuals in this gorilla family. The number of gorilla families may grow or shrink for a variety of reasons, including procreation, raiding other families for members, and natural attrition (the death of a gorilla or their offspring). Preserving the gorilla population is critical for the sake of future generations, especially considering that half of the world’s gorillas live in Uganda.
The Family of Rushegura Gorillas
Another group of habituated gorillas who are available for monitoring is the Rushegura family. Fifteen people make up the group. No one can predict how long it will take to locate the gorillas in the bush, so the walk may range anything from thirty minutes to four hours.
While you stroll around the park, you can be certain that your guide or tracker will keep an eye out for a variety of animals, birds, streams, and plants.
Muyambi Mountain Gorillas
A new family of gorillas called the Muyambi emerged at the beginning of this year. The family consists of six people. An adult member of the Mubare family, Muyambi later broke away to establish what is now known as the Muyambi group. As they go about their everyday lives—eating, conversing, resting, and moving about on the ground and in the trees—the gorillas are a sight to see.
Family of Katwe gorillas
The eight-member Katwe gorilla family is likewise quite recent, having first surfaced in 2018. It took three years for the habituated gorilla trackers to get used to the family. The number of tourists is directly correlated to the number of gorilla families, as more gorilla families mean more gorilla permits. You may still have a shot at finding a spot to monitor gorillas even during peak season if you do this.
Among the various gorilla tours offered by Katland Safaris are three-day Gorilla Tours of Uganda and four-day Double Gorilla Tracking Tours of Uganda. We will offer you all the information you need and help you customize your trip if you send us an email.
