How and Where To Buy Golden Monkey Permit in Rwanda.

Usually included on gorilla trekking safaris, golden monkey trekking in Rwanda offers a chance to see one of the rarest primates in Africa in their native habitat. The ticket allowing visitors to spend some time seeing the endangered small monkeys is a golden monkey trekking permit.

If you want to hike mountain gorillas in Volcanoes National Park, schedule extra day there to see the golden monkeys; they are really unique. Their faces are round, hairy with a reddish-gold-back contrast between fur and watchful owl-like, deep-brown eyes.

Though they are somewhat different, they are often mistaken with the snob-nosed golden monkeys of China. Of course, the golden monkey is a close cousin of the blue monkey. The golden monkey has a golden-orange patch on the top flanks and back; the two are somewhat similar generally.

These monkeys still have regular lives that are somewhat unknown. Under the direction of a male, they form sizable, social groups ranging in count from 60 to even 100 individuals. Their food is mostly bamboo, hence they dwell and hunt only in the bamboo forests of the Virunga highlands.

Trekking golden monkeys in Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park is less demanding than gorilla trekking. As you adjust to the high heights on the first day, it makes a great beginning hike. But before attending the daily tour, you must have a golden monkey trekking permit, just as gorilla permits. Here are excellent guides on purchasing a permit in Rwanda.

Available for hiking, two golden monkey populations ranging in count from 80 to 100 live in Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park.

Joining the daily expeditions starting at 08:00 am and spending roughly half of the day is made possible by the golden monkey trekking permit Outside the park, at the Kiningi briefing point, you will join two armed park officers and a small group of trekkers under the direction of the guide.

Following a safety briefing, you will travel to the beginning of the walking path into the rainforest wilderness. Your local guide will be in radio conversation with trackers for golden monkeys. It will take you from the edge of the forest into thick undergrowth until you come to the golden monkeys.
