In Bwindi and Mgahinga, how much does it cost to go on a gorilla trekking safari?

The Uganda Wildlife Authority issues gorilla permits, which enable visitors to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park or Mgahinga National Park to spend one hour in the company of habituated mountain gorillas. In addition to park admission, a gorilla permit covers one hour of viewing and photography, the services of a UWA ranger guide, forest security, and a certificate upon completion of the walk.

To see mountain gorillas in Bwindi or Mgahinga, you’ll need a gorilla trekking permit, which costs $800 for non-residents from outside the five East African countries, $700 for residents from within those countries, and Shs300,000 for citizens of those countries plus Southern Sudan. Before such a pricing can be accepted, foreign residents and nationals of East Africa are required to provide copies of their work permits or national identity cards to establish their status. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park Access

Both Rwanda’s Kigali International Airport and Uganda’s Entebbe Airport provide air and vehicle access to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. It takes about four to five hours to travel from Kigali to Bwindi, whereas the trip from Entebbe to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park takes around eight to ten hours.

Depending on the location you’re visiting, domestic flights from Entebbe International Airport to Kihihi or Kisoro airstrips take around two hours.
