No more discounted gorilla permits
Be advised that cheap gorilla permits for Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga National Park are no longer available to anybody planning a mountain gorilla trip in the country. Gorilla permits in Uganda have been available at a reduced rate of USD 450 via the Uganda Wildlife Authority since 2025. However, beginning in 2025, this will no longer be the case.
Save big on 2025’s gorilla permits!
Historically, travelers have been able to save money on gorilla permits by purchasing them during the off-season (April–May and November), but starting in 2025, all months will have the same pricing. (Autumn to December). Those who would want to take advantage of the discounted gorilla permit costs should make plans to go in November 2025, while the rates are still USD800.00.
Uganda is still one of the most budget-friendly places to go gorilla trekking, even if 2025 saw the end of subsidized permits. The price of a gorilla permit in Rwanda, another country home to mountain gorillas, has risen from $750 to $1500, making it the world’s priciest destination for gorilla trekking. In 2025, Uganda decided against offering cheaper gorilla permits and instead kept the fee at USD800.00 per month.
