Strangely enough, the rainiest times of year in Rwanda and Uganda fall right in the middle of summer vacations in the northern hemisphere. How to get a gorilla permit and what it covers

Visiting Bwindi Impenetrable National Park or Mghinga National Park on a gorilla walk during a summer vacation is now feasible without a gorilla permit, as mentioned above. The southern section of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is now home to two gorilla families that the Uganda Wildlife Authority has set aside for the purpose of gorilla habituation. Speculation has it that another family is being housed in the northern section of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park to provide for the residents of the Buhoma and Ruhija parts of the Bwindi forest. However, this has not been officially verified.

In each of these cases, you will receive a certificate attesting to your visit to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for gorilla trekking. By doing so, you will also be helping to preserve the rare mountain gorillas, as a portion of your gorilla permit fee goes toward this cause in addition to paying the salaries of the Uganda and Wildlife Authority employees.

The villagers also stand to gain from gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, since a portion of the gorilla permit cost goes toward community development programs like building schools and hospitals and providing employment.
