Detailed Itinerary: 5 days trip to Queen Elizabeth and Bwindi Safari

Day 1: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Your safari begins with departure from Entebbe or Kampala, heading west toward Queen Elizabeth National Park. The journey passes through fertile countryside, tea plantations, and crater lake regions, offering scenic views throughout the drive. Upon arrival in the park, you may enjoy an evening game drive depending on your arrival time, providing your first opportunity to spot elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, and a variety of bird species. Dinner and overnight are spent at a lodge within or near the park.

Day 2: Game Drive and Kazinga Channel Boat Safari

Day two is dedicated to exploring Queen Elizabeth National Park, one of Uganda’s most wildlife-rich protected areas. An early morning game drive across the Kasenyi Plains offers excellent chances to encounter lions, elephants, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, and warthogs, with leopards occasionally spotted during the early hours. In the afternoon, you enjoy a relaxing boat safari along the Kazinga Channel, a natural waterway linking Lake Edward and Lake George. The cruise allows close encounters with hippos, Nile crocodiles, elephants, and abundant birdlife, making it one of the highlights of the park.

Day 3: Transfer from Queen Elizabeth to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After breakfast, you depart Queen Elizabeth National Park and travel south toward Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The drive takes you through the scenic Ishasha sector, famous for its tree-climbing lions, before continuing into the misty highlands surrounding Bwindi. The landscape gradually changes from open savannah to dense rainforest, signaling your arrival in one of Africa’s most important conservation areas. You check in at your lodge near the forest, enjoy dinner, and prepare for the gorilla trekking experience the next day.

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

The highlight of the safari unfolds on day four with mountain gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. After an early breakfast, you report to the park headquarters for a briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. Accompanied by experienced guides, you trek through thick rainforest in search of a habituated gorilla family. The trek can last from a few hours to most of the morning, depending on the gorillas’ movements. Spending one hour observing these gentle giants at close range as they feed, play, and interact is a powerful and unforgettable wildlife experience. After the trek, you return to your lodge for relaxation and an overnight stay in the forest.

Day 5: Return to Entebbe and Departure

On the final day, you enjoy breakfast before beginning your return journey to Entebbe or Kampala. The scenic drive offers time to reflect on the remarkable wildlife encounters and dramatic landscapes experienced over the past five days. Depending on your departure schedule, you may stop for lunch or brief shopping before being transferred to Entebbe International Airport for your onward flight, marking the end of your 5 Days Trip to Queen Elizabeth and Bwindi Safari.
