Detailed Itinerary: 5 days Murchison and Queen Elizabeth safari

Day 1: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park

Your safari begins with an early departure from Entebbe or Kampala, heading north toward Murchison Falls National Park. The drive takes you through rural countryside and traditional villages, offering insight into everyday Ugandan life. Upon arrival in the park, you proceed to the top of Murchison Falls, where the Nile River dramatically forces its way through a narrow gorge before plunging into the river below. This powerful natural spectacle sets the tone for the adventure ahead. You then continue to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay surrounded by wilderness.

Day 2: Game Drive and Nile Boat Safari in Murchison Falls

Day two is dedicated to exploring the rich wildlife of Murchison Falls National Park. An early morning game drive across the northern savannah plains introduces you to elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, lions, and a variety of antelope species. The open landscapes provide excellent wildlife viewing and photography opportunities. In the afternoon, you enjoy a boat safari along the Victoria Nile, cruising upstream toward the base of Murchison Falls. Along the riverbanks, you encounter large pods of hippos, Nile crocodiles, elephants, and abundant birdlife, making this one of the most memorable experiences in the park.

Day 3: Transfer from Murchison Falls to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast, you depart Murchison Falls National Park and begin the journey south to Queen Elizabeth National Park. This is a longer but scenic drive that passes through changing landscapes, from savannah and woodland to fertile farmlands and crater lake regions. En route, you enjoy breaks for refreshments and photography. Arrival in Queen Elizabeth National Park is in the evening, where you check in at your lodge, enjoy dinner, and rest in preparation for the next day’s wildlife activities.

Day 4: Game Drive and Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise

Day four is spent exploring Queen Elizabeth National Park, one of Uganda’s most biodiverse protected areas. The morning game drive across the Kasenyi Plains offers excellent chances to spot lions, elephants, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, and warthogs, with leopards occasionally seen during early hours. In the afternoon, you take a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, a natural waterway linking Lake Edward and Lake George. This cruise provides close encounters with hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and countless water birds, creating outstanding photographic and wildlife observation opportunities.

Day 5: Return to Entebbe and Departure

On the final day, you enjoy breakfast before beginning your return journey to Entebbe or Kampala. The drive offers a final opportunity to appreciate Uganda’s scenic countryside and reflect on the incredible wildlife experiences from both national parks. Depending on your flight schedule, you may stop for lunch along the way before being transferred to Entebbe International Airport for departure, marking the end of your 5 Days Murchison and Queen Elizabeth Safari.
