Detailed Itinerary: 7 Days best of Uganda Safari
Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
Your safari begins with arrival in Entebbe or Kampala, followed by a scenic drive to western Uganda. The journey takes you through lush countryside, tea plantations, and small trading centers, defining the charm of rural Uganda. As you approach Kibale Forest National Park, the landscape becomes greener and more forested. Upon arrival, you check in at your lodge near the forest and spend the evening relaxing in preparation for the primate adventures ahead.
Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale Forest
Day two is dedicated to chimpanzee tracking in Kibale Forest National Park, one of Africa’s premier destinations for chimpanzee encounters. After an early breakfast, you attend a briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority guides before entering the forest. The trek involves following chimpanzee calls through dense vegetation as you observe them feeding, grooming, and moving energetically through the canopy. Along the way, guides highlight other primates, birds, and plant species. After the trek, you return to your lodge for rest and overnight.
Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast, you depart Kibale Forest and drive south toward Queen Elizabeth National Park. The scenic journey passes crater lakes and rolling hills, offering beautiful photo opportunities. Upon arrival in the park, you begin exploring its diverse landscapes, which range from open savannah to wetlands and lakes. You check in at your lodge and enjoy a relaxed afternoon surrounded by wildlife-rich surroundings.
Day 4: Wildlife Game Drive and Kazinga Channel Boat Safari
Day four features classic wildlife experiences in Queen Elizabeth National Park. An early morning game drive takes you across the savannah plains, where you may encounter elephants, buffalo, antelopes, and predators such as lions and leopards. In the afternoon, you enjoy a boat safari along the Kazinga Channel, a natural waterway connecting Lake George and Lake Edward. The channel is famous for its dense populations of hippos, crocodiles, and water birds, providing exceptional wildlife viewing and photography opportunities.
Day 5: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After breakfast, you leave Queen Elizabeth National Park and travel south to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The drive passes through the Ishasha region and scenic highland landscapes, gradually transitioning into misty rainforest terrain. Bwindi’s rugged hills and dense forest signal your arrival in one of Africa’s most biodiverse ecosystems. You check in at your lodge near the forest edge and receive a briefing about the upcoming gorilla trekking experience.
Day 6: Mountain Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
The highlight of the 7 Days Best of Uganda Safari takes place on day six with mountain gorilla trekking. After an early breakfast, you report to the park headquarters for registration and a detailed briefing. Accompanied by experienced rangers, you trek through thick rainforest and steep terrain in search of a habituated gorilla family. Trekking time varies, but the reward is extraordinary. Spending one hour in the presence of mountain gorillas as they feed, rest, and interact is a deeply moving and unforgettable experience. After the trek, you return to your lodge for relaxation and overnight.
Day 7: Return to Entebbe and Departure
On the final day, you enjoy breakfast before beginning the return journey to Entebbe or Kampala. The scenic drive through southwestern Uganda offers final views of terraced hills, rural villages, and lush landscapes. Depending on your departure schedule, you may stop for lunch before transfer to Entebbe International Airport for your onward flight, marking the end of the 7 Days Best of Uganda Safari.
