Detailed Itinerary: 2‑Day Bwindi Gorilla Trek (Mountain Gorilla Experience)
Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
The safari begins early in the morning with pickup from Entebbe or Kampala, followed by a scenic drive to southwestern Uganda. The journey passes through rolling countryside, rural villages, and terraced hills, offering insight into Uganda’s diverse landscapes and cultures. En route, there are brief stops for refreshments and photography.
Upon arrival at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, you check in at your lodge located near the forest edge. The afternoon is reserved for rest and acclimatization, which is important for the following day’s trek. Depending on arrival time, a short community walk or nature experience near the lodge may be arranged. Dinner and overnight are spent in the cool forest environment, surrounded by the sounds of the rainforest.
Day 2: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest – Gorilla Trekking – Return
The highlight of the safari begins early in the morning with breakfast followed by transfer to the park headquarters for a mandatory gorilla trekking briefing. Experienced park rangers explain trekking guidelines, gorilla behavior, and conservation rules before assigning groups based on fitness levels.
You then enter the forest with your guide and trackers, trekking through dense vegetation in search of a habituated mountain gorilla family. Trekking duration varies depending on gorilla movements, but once found, you are allowed one unforgettable hour in their presence. Observing gorillas feeding, interacting, and caring for their young at close range is a deeply emotional and once-in-a-lifetime experience.
After the trek, you return to the lodge for lunch and begin the journey back to Entebbe or Kampala, arriving in the evening and marking the end of the Bwindi Gorilla Trek experience.
