In the heart of the breathtaking Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, perched on the Nteko ridge, is the mid-range Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge. From here, you can see the whole Bwindi Forest and the hill called “Nkuringo” across the Kashasha River Valley, as well as the vast expanse of trees that surround it. From its vantage point high above the escarpment in the DRC Congo’s Albertine Rift Valley, the lodge offers breathtaking views of the Virunga volcanic range.

Every one of the eight garden cottages, three villas (two connected superior cottages and one family villa with a shared balcony), and every one of the cottages at Nkuringo Gorilla Bwindi Lodge is meticulously hand-crafted from local materials. Each cottage has its own sitting area, fireplace, en suite bathroom, and private veranda or balcony that overlooks the forest and the Gahinga ranges. Full board meals, including breakfast, lunch (or a packed lunch for gorilla trackers), dinner (four courses), and accommodations for specific diets, start at $230 per person. A variety of accommodation types are available, including double, single, triple, and twin.

After an 8 to 9 hour trip from Kampala or Entebbe, you will reach Nkuringo Bwindi Lodge in the Nkuringo sector of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. Along the way, you will pass through picturesque villages, encounter locals, and view the Equator. From Kigali, you may reach the lodge via the Katuna/Cyanika Border between Rwanda and Uganda; the journey is quite short (approximately 5-6 hours) and offers plenty of scenic roadside attractions. Alternately, you might fly into Kisoro Airstrip from Entebbe International Airport/Kajjansi, a journey that takes about an hour. Domestic airline firms operate daily flights with morning and afternoon schedules.
