Subjects covered include chimpanzee habitat in Uganda and chimpanzee tracking.
After mountain gorillas, chimpanzees are the most well-known primates. Trekking with these endangered creatures is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see them in their natural habitat, following habituated chimpanzees as they go about their daily lives, eating, and sleeping. You could also see birds, snakes, primates, elephants (if you’re lucky), and other wildlife that calls the forest home.
It takes 30 minutes to an hour to walk through the forest on uneven or even treacherous terrain in search of the chimpanzees; nonetheless, the experience is well worth the effort. Park rangers and guides will be there to aid you along the way. There is a one-hour window of opportunity to see chimpanzees in Uganda, but your odds of seeing them are barely 99%.
You get to encounter chimpanzees who aren’t used to humans yet, so they may be a little wild, hide, and run away during chimpanzee habitat excursions. Assisting researchers and guides in acclimating these endangered monkeys to human presence entails making noises that are specific to them, following their movements as they forage, rest, and live, and more.
You get to spend four hours observing the chimpanzees, which is a fascinating experience. Any of the authorized chimpanzee sites are perfect for chimpanzee trekking or chimpanzee habituation. If you need to change the date of your chimpanzee trekking or habituation permit in Uganda, please get in touch with us.
You shouldn’t pass up the chance to view these endangered monkeys up close; Katland Safaris arranges excursions and permits to visit Rwanda and Uganda to observe chimpanzees. Chimpanzee trekking and chimpanzee habituation are both available to you, and we’ll show you how to adjust the dates of your permits if something unforeseen happens.
