2 Days Murchison Falls Safari – Booking a short trip toMurchison Falls National Park

2 Days Murchison Falls Trip. This exciting 2-day safari to Murchison Falls National Park offers you a memorable taste of Uganda’s wildlife and breathtaking scenery. The adventure includes a thrilling game drive across the park’s sweeping savannah, where you’ll spot an impressive range of animals such as lions, elephants, leopards, buffaloes, giraffes, Jackson’s hartebeests, oribis, kobs, waterbucks, and warthogs. You’ll also enjoy a boat cruise along the River Nile, where you can witness hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and a variety of birds along the riverbanks.

Day 1: Travel from Kampala to Murchison Falls National Park and Boat Cruise

Start your journey early, finishing breakfast by 6:30 a.m. before setting off along the Kampala-Gulu highway. You’ll make a brief stop in Luwero District to enjoy local fruits like pineapples, oranges, and passion fruit. Upon reaching Murchison Falls National Park, you’ll head straight to the top of the falls for a spectacular view of the Nile as it forces its way through a narrow 7-meter gorge, plunging 43 meters into a thunderous whirlpool below an unforgettable natural wonder.

Afterward, enjoy lunch and prepare for the afternoon boat trip at 2:30 p.m. The launch cruise on the River Nile is one of the park’s highlights, lasting about three and a half hours. Along the way, you’ll have close-up encounters with hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and buffaloes, as well as an array of birdlife such as African fish eagles, bee-eaters, skimmers, cattle egrets, and the rare shoebill stork. The cruise ends at the base of Murchison Falls, giving you another stunning view of the cascading water before heading back to your lodge for dinner and overnight rest.

Travel Time: Approximately 6 hours

Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Day 2: Morning Game Drive & Return to Kampala

Rise early for breakfast around 6:00 a.m., then set out for a morning game drive by 6:30 a.m. This is the best time to spot nocturnal species and predators before they retreat from the night’s hunt. Drive through the Albert and Queen Tracks, where you can observe elephants, lions, giraffes, antelopes, hyenas, jackals, bushbucks, Uganda kobs, Jackson’s hartebeests, buffaloes, and, with luck, a leopard.

After about four hours of wildlife viewing, check out of the park and begin your return trip to Kampala. Stop for lunch at Kabalega Diner along the highway before continuing to the city, marking the end of your short yet unforgettable safari.

Travel Time: Approximately 6 hours

Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner
