Can a child below 15 years trek gorillas? It is indeed true that the minimum age for gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Volcanoes National Park, respectively, is 15 years and above. This is quite strictly enforced in Rwanda and Uganda.
All park officials take age restrictions very seriously, to the point that passport information is sought before a gorilla permit is granted. Every visitor will also be asked to provide an authentic passport on the day of the gorilla trekking so that all those scheduled to go are of the correct age.
Cases when a youngster under fifteen walks among gorillas
Uganda Wildlife Authority has two cases in which a youngster under fifteen years of age might be allowed to hike with gorillas. When a youngster is ready to mark their 15th birthday, both Uganda and Rwanda gorilla officials should show compassion to such a child and let them go gorilla trekking.
Should the above be evaluated and the youngster meet criteria, authorities might choose to grant the child permission to go to Rwanda or Uganda to hike gorillas.
