The price for kibale chimp permits has been increased from $250 to $300.

Starting on July 1, 2020, for the next two years, the price of a Kibale chimpanzee permit will be $300, up from $250. At a gathering of stakeholders held at Hotel Africana, this increase was disclosed. A total of USD300 per permit per trek will be required of all visitors to Uganda from July 1, 2024, due to the addition of an additional USD50.

Chimpanzee excursions in Kibale Forest National Park have become more popular, leading to a price rise. Kibale National Park is still one of the greatest spots in Africa to witness habituated chimpanzee colonies, as well as eleven other monkey species and a plethora of birds that call this remnant tropical rain forest home.

If you’re looking for a place to go chimpanzee trekking or see them in the wild, go no further than Kibale National Park in western Uganda. In the beginning, when the number of chimpanzee permits was 250, the demand for chimpanzee trekking was so high that the Uganda Wildlife Authority had to implement three shifts daily to accommodate all of the visitors who wanted to see these habituated groups of wild chimpanzees.

They also claim that the little price increase would help with chimpanzee conservation in Kibale via funding research and salaries for all the people working to keep these amazing apes in Uganda.

While chimpanzee permits in Kibale have gone up in price from $250 to $300, those in other chimpanzee trekking locations, such Kyambura Gorge, have stayed at $50. Visitors to Queen Elizabeth National Park who are interested in chimpanzee trekking may want to add a stop to Kyambura Gorge to their schedule.

For reservations made prior to July 1, 2024, what will happen?

The price of Kibale chimpanzee permits has been raised from $250 to $300, however this change only applies to reservations made after July 1, 2024, and not before. Get in touch with Katland Safaris right now if you want to take advantage of the $250 price tag and get your chimpanzee permits before they sell out.

Through its umbrella group, tour operators in Uganda are also attempting to have the price of these chimpanzee licenses waived for everyone who books theirs before the deadline. That is to say, the previous pricing should still be valid for August chimpanzee permits reserved in 2019 or early 2020. If this passes, it will be the result of ongoing discussions. Safaris with Katland will be the ones to inform you first.

UWA modifies protocol for reserving chimpanzee licenses.

All chimpanzee licenses purchased at 30% must be replenished within 90 days before to the scheduled trekking date, according to the Uganda Wildlife Authority’s proposal. At once, tour operators and individuals could add chimpanzee permits whenever they wanted, even at the last minute.

However, this was soon changed owing to high demand and a lack of available permits. The fact that some tour companies have been hoarding these chimpanzee permits and then releasing them when they are no longer required has also come to light. To avoid all of the aforementioned hassles, Katland Safaris often requests that guests pay in full for their chimpanzee permits in advance.
