Miss tourism project promotes Uganda – Uganda safaris and tours.
Ms Akurut was crowned Miss Uganda 2015 last Friday, August 28, 2015, at a function held at Serena Hotel in Kampala. The Miss Tourism Project advances Uganda both here and abroad. Initiated three years ago on a sluggish beginning, this initiative has grown to be among the top pullers in Kampala and surrounding rural areas.
One of African nations with huge tourist potential but less recognized is Uganda. By means of initiatives like these, the government via Uganda Tourism Board seeks to raise awareness of what the nation has to offer in terms of tourism goods for both local and foreign visitors.

Starting with regional contests where candidates are subsequently eliminated based on their regional performance, Miss Uganda pageant initiative Among regions are Kigezi, Ankole, Bunyoro, Buganda, teso.
Successful candidates are then enabled to participate in Kampala from where finalists are chosen for the national finals after region contests are finished. Miss Uganda initiatives raise awareness of regional tourist attractions, therefore promoting Uganda. Every competitor represents tourist items from areas they know. Mountain gorillas from Mgahinga National Park and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park call Kigezi home.
Both domestic and foreign visitors may spend several days trekking gorillas and engaging in other activities such volcano climbing, birdwatching viewing, woodland walks, Batwa cultural experience here.
While in Kasese, a visit to Queen Elizabeth National park for game drives and boat excursions on Kazinga canal is highlights, in Fort Portal chimpanzee trekking in Kibale National park cannot go unmentioned. Those who like mountain hiking, Rwenzori, Elgon are a bonus. Miss Tourism Project therefore helps Uganda both internally and abroad.
